Certain measures have been taken in order to alleviate negative effects of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) on Turkey's economy.
MEMORANDUM ON LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENTS
The following measures have been taken through Presidential Decisions ("
Decisions") published in the Official Gazettes dated August 31, 2020 numbered 31230 and dated September 4, 2020 numbered 31234 in order to alleviate negative effects of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) on Turkey's economy.
1. Short-term employment allowance period has been prolonged.
The period of short-term employment allowance has been extended
for two months as from 31.08.2020 for those employers who applied for the short-term employment allowance until 30.06.2020 within the framework of the principles set forth under the Provisional Article 23 of Unemployment Insurance Law No. 4447.
2. The period of prohibition regarding the termination of employment has been extended.
The implementation period of clause stipulated in the first paragraph of the provisional Article 10 of the Labor Law No. 4857 which prohibits the termination of employment contracts by the employer, except in the event of immoral, dishonorable or malicious conducts of the employee, has been extended
for two months as from 17.09.2020.
3. Unpaid leave period has been extended.
The implementation period of clause stipulated in the second paragraph of the provisional Article 10 of the Labor Law No. 4857 which grants employers the right to send their employees completely or partially on unpaid leave, has been extended
for two months as from 17.09.2020.
